The EMC focuses on a wide variety of mining subjects. Both Underground and Open Pit mining subjects are taught. Furthermore, the subjects include rock mechanics, computer modeling, health & safety, and economics. Most courses include projects in which the students work in small groups. The program finishes with a case study in which the students are creating a business plan. Company visits to operations and the supply industry take place in each of the four countries.
