“The real experience of this international program is even better than all the references you will hear on forehand. It is a challenging adventure you will enter with a new group of students. New cultures are shared and explored. Together you will reach a higher level of education and explore new areas in mineral processing. Friends for life are made, above all there is time to visit cities and cultural heritage. I can definitely say that this year has changed my way of thinking as well as my scope of the world. Above all my knowledge and engineering way of thinking have developed by the educational level of the course.”

” Personal Impressions of the Course: The best part of this course has been the opportunity to meet so many different people from so many different backgrounds. I don’t think there are many courses where out of 13 people studying there are 9 different nationalities.
The fact that we have studied in 4 different countries has also given me the unique chance to travel while also doing something worthwhile and gaining a qualification. The programme has also enabled me to enter a very lucrative industry that I would not otherwise have been able to. On a more negative note I have found that some parts of the course have lacked organisation and that there should have been better communication between the teaching staff in the different countries where we were taught (for example it was necessary for us to have an exam at the beginning of our course at Finland and we were retaught some of the material from Poland in Aachen).”

“My year on the EMEC has undoubtedly been one of the most valuable experiences of my student life. Living abroad so intensively with a small group of people forces you to be independent to a level you would never achieve when staying at your home university. At the same time, it is nice to know that all the logistical things like curriculum and accommodation are taken care of and the amount of organizational things you have to do as a student is usually minimal. Because of the vast network of the FEMP organization, there are constantly chances to connect with people in the industry, which is useful both in order to become familiar with the industry and, of course, for future employment opportunities. But most importantly, I will remember the EMEC as a year which I got to travel around Europe with a group of people who became great friends. We’ve had such a great year, with countless trips, nights out, excursions and activities, which is really what, to me, will make this year unforgettable.”
-Stephanie Lier – Delft University of Technology-
“After one year’s experience, I can say that joining in EMEC is definitely a wise choice for me. As a Chinese student, I learn not only the mineral processing through high quality lectures and excursions, but also the life and culture in Europe. Another unique characteristic of EMEC course is that all the students have lectures and live together. I am in a very nice and friendly group. We studied hard and played hard as well. We enjoyed the life across Europe. They helped me a lot to blend myself into European life as a foreign student. This course also makes me get interested in mining and mineral field although my bachelor study is material science. I am willing to take mineral processing as my future career. It might be too early to say that but EMEC makes me to look at my life from a different perspective.”
-Jiaji Wu – EMMEP (China)-
“EMEC year was definitely the best year of student life I have had. I met during the year people all over the world, became good friends with my course mates and spend many unforgettable moments with them. After this year I can say that my English improved a lot, I learned a lot of mineral processing, recycling and metallurgy. I think that this was one of the most educative and funniest years so far in my life. I really recommend this program to students who are interested of mineral processing and ready to travel and experience different cultures.”
